DETAILS

This magnificent and unique tour takes you through hinterland of Dalmatia and Herzegovina to Međugorje and afterwards in Mostar.

Let’s start from the beginning!

After your first morning coffee, we will meet in Split’s Riva around 7:30. We suggest you be right on time, just to make the most of our day. We will board our air conditioned minibus and head to Međugorje.  It will take around three hours to arrive to Međugorje, place of prayer and reconciliation. In this pilgrimage place it is recoreded that Virgin Mary has appeared in 1981. Things to do in Međugorje include visit to Apparition Hill and Križevac Hill. Visit to both of these hills should take no longer than two hours. Medium fitness required and the aid of a hiking stick could be useful while climbing or going down. Proper hiking shoes are recommended. Visit to these two hills will be highlights of this trip. Relax in this spiritual place.

Around 13:30 we will head towards Mostar and leave Međugorje behind.

Mostar is usually described as place where the north meets the south, and east meets the west. Otherwise, it is a small picturesque town on the river Neretva. it is the most important cultural and economic town in the Herzegovina region. During the war around 2,000 people died in Mostar and town was heavily damaged. Since the end of war, great progress has been made in the reconstruction of the town. In Mostar we will visit Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar, Old Bazar Kujundziluk and Koskin-Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque. Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar is tourist area of Mostar. Locals jump from the top of the Old Bridge. We suggest walking to the river and taking a ride in one of the small boats. Old Bazar Kujundziluk is a nice traditional market with souvenirs from the whole region. The prices are lower than anywhere around so you can buy all the souvenirs from here. Finally, Koskin-Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque is one of the few mosques in the world where non-muslims are allowed. The interior is beautiful. The best thing about this mosque is that tourists are allowed to climb the minaret – the spectacular panoramas on top are indescribable! Tour with professional guide will last for one hour and then you will have free time to enjoy on your own.

Since we are in Mostar, we cannot leave without trying some of traditional food like „burek“ or „baklava“. Burek is mincemeat in pastry – you can eat it any time in the day. Locals usually eat burek in the morning, followed by black coffee. Baklava is sweet dessert pastry made of layers of filo dough filled with chopped nuts and syrup. We suggest taking some with you.

Around 17 we will get back on our mini bus and head back to Split. We will pass through Neretva Valley and arrive to Split around 19h. Just in time for you to take another stroll on Split’s Riva – place where locals meet and enjoy cold drink in one of numerous cafes or restaurants.

We think this will be a beautiful experience visiting such a scenic country with friendly people. We guarantee you will be satisfied and you will want to go back! Thank you for travelling with us!
