KRKA WATERFALLS & TROGIR

If you want to go on a tour that’s almost guaranteed to be amazing, join us for our Krka waterfalls & Trogir every day from 8:15 am. This tour is designed to bring you the best experience of Krka National Park and town of Trogir combined.

Krka national park is named after river Krka and it is one of eight national parks in Croatia. Popular across Croatia and Europe for its lakes and waterfalls, it is visited every year by more than one million people. In 1985. park was created with idea to protect river Krka and to serve for scientific and cultural purposes. Why scientific purposes? This national park has a unique ecosystem and it is exceptionally rich in flora and fauna. More than 800 different and endemic plants can be found here along with high density of lavender. More than a dozen endemic species of fish can be found including Dalmatian barbelgudgeon and brown trout. Over 200 different types of birds can be found here and ornithologically this is one of the most valuable regions of Europe.

To preserve this amazing place, management of the park have decided that maximum number of people who can enjoy inside the park at the same time is 10 000.  If there are more than 10 000 we will have to wait in a queue. Once we get inside, there are multiple activities National park Krka offers. You can explore national park by hiking, by swimming or going on boat trips.

The most popular tourist attraction is Skradinski buk. This landmark has its own place in almost every promotional video of Croatia because of its high waterfalls and cascades. Pass over awesome boardwalks over the water. Skradinski buk is considered to be one of the most beautiful calcium carbonate waterfalls in Europe. We suggest you take 45 minutes boat ride to the small island of Visovac. Island is home to Roman Catholic Monastery and Serbian Eastern Orthodox Monastery surrounded with amazing garden. Island is quiet and peaceful place for you to enjoy and recharge your batteries.

Another popular attraction is Roški slap, a much quieter part of national park. We suggest you climb up and see prehistoric cave. It’s quite small but unbelievable considering it’s so high up! The steps are very well maintained and were easy to climb.

Hiking is a must in national park and well-marked trails will take you everywhere through the park. You can enjoy swimming, so bring your swimming costume and towel with you. If you have watershoes, bring them as well since getting into swimming area can be difficult in some places (sharp or slippery rocks). The falls are spectacular and you will see how national park Krka is definitely well worth a visit!

We will return to our coach and head towards our next destination – town of Trogir. This historic town and harbor is located on a small island between mainland and island of Čiovo. Thanks to Venetian architecture that can be found on almost any sight in town, Trogir has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. One of most popular tourist hotspots is Trogir’s medieval old town, with its magnificent Romanesque cathedral. This Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Lawrence from 17th century is exquisite, detailed and gorgeous. Doorway is unique – its carvings tell the story of Jesus’ life. Our next stop will include the town square and a monastery, as well as Cipiko Palace, oone of the beautiful buildings in the old town and if you decide to go, Fortress Kamerlengo which offers very nice view from one of the towers.

Walking around narrow streets of Trogir, you will notice many restaurants and cafes’ and conclude that tourism is most important economic factor in Trogir, combined with shipbuilding. Shipyard “Trogir” has been established in early 20th century. At the end of our guided tour you will have some time to explore the town and do whatever you want on your own.

We will board our coach and return to Split in late afternoon.
